We had a wonderful visitor to our garden this morning. We'd seen him flying past once or twice at night time, our Barnie, a flash of white, much like on this stamp.
But this morning, in full daylight, he was sitting on a fence post, just two yards from the house. And he stayed here for quite a while, looking for mice no doubt. Such a wonderful bird!
Fact of life: barn swallows don't like barn owls! Although I wonder why, because I don't think barn owls eat small birds and it's not as if they're in the same barn, crowding each other out of the place! But it was a great sight, all those swallows nose diving into the owl (who didn't really seem to care two hoots and just considered it a slight nuisance)!
