You may remember that I have a soft spot for windmills on stamps. I think they're the most fascinating objects to put on stamps. So I was very happy with this miniature sheet which Paulo sent me the other day (thanks, mate!). It's part of a set of stamps and miniature sheet showing windmills in (on?) the Azores.
I'm not an expert at all on windmills so don't ask me for any technical details! It's nice, though, that the stamps include a schematic drawing of the mill depicted. Here's a closer look at the two stamps of the sheet.
From the Portuguese info on the stamps I gather that the top one is a static windmill and the bottom one a rotating mill.
And I must say I like the donkey as well!
