In a previous post I promised you the two top values of the Italian Michelangelo definitive set. And here they are. The 500 lire depicts Adam
and the 1000 lire depicts Eve.
Aren't they beautiful? I wouldn't mind a whole definitive set like this! Both portraits are from the Sistine Chapel, as are all the other portraits, apart from that of Michelangelo himself. We usually see a different part of Adam, namely his world famous arm, for this portrait is from the paintintg where he reaches out his hand to God (or is it the other way around?).
The portrait of Eve comes from that part of the chapel that depicts the Temptation of Eve.
